ABSTRACT

Dr. Gowers' numerous contributions to medical literature and his former smaller works upon the diagnosis of diseases of the nervous system, have made him well known to the profession as a clear and exact as well as an interesting writer. From the present volume we expected much and have been in no way disappointed. It is probably the most comprehensive manual upon the subject in our language. Each topic is discussed with wellproportioned fullness. The descriptions are clear and accurate and not at all diffuse.

The author says in his preface that the object of the work is "to afford the student the means of gaining an adequate conception of our present knowledge of the diseases of the nervous system, and to supply the practitioner with the information he needs for dealing with these diseases in his daily work."
