—Dr. Herman C. Stevens has been appointed examining alienist at Cook County Institution, Oak Forest. —Dr. Frederick W. Werner, Joliet, who has been critically ill with septicemia, is reported to be steadily improving.

Bathing Beach Closed.
—The State Board of Health through its secretary, Dr. C. St. Clair Drake, has ordered closed the bathing beach for one-half mile on each side of one of the principal hotels at Fox Lake, Lake County. The sewage from the hotel empties into the lake near the beach and a number of cases of typhoid fever are believed to have
