ABSTRACT

The Use of the Vaginal Tampon in the Treatment OF CERTAIN EFFECTS FOLLOWING PELVIC Inflammations.  —In an article on this subject, read before the Alumni Association of the Woman's Hospital of New York, Dr. T. A. Emmet says:Under what conditions are we likely to obtain the best results from the use of the hot-water vaginal injections, and when might we expect a good result from the uniform pressure which will be exerted by properly tamponing the vagina? No other mode of treatment yet known can accomplish so much as is gained by the use of the hot-water vaginal injections in all acute pelvic inflammations. The hot water acts as a poultice in exciting contraction of the arterial capillaries.
