ABSTRACT

It is my pleasant duty in opening the proceedings of this Section to thank you for the honor you have bestowed on me in making me the Chairman of the Section for the year. I may further say that the honor is a real and unexpected one; for the first intimation which I had that I was to be chairman for the year was the report of the nominating committee to the Section at the meeting of the Association last year at Atlantic City. And this leads me to believe that, whatever may be said of the past, or of any other Section of this Association, in the Section on Nervous and Mental Diseases, medical politics plays no part whatever.

I believe that it should be the aim of this Section to discuss all the varied phases of nervous and mental diseases, and that its officers should endeavor to assemble
