To the Editor:
In going over the report of the Conference on Pellagra at Columbia, S. C., November 3 and 4 (The Journal, November 13), I find that the reporter has given me credit for some conclusions which should rightly be credited to Dr. Carroll B. Welton of Peoria, Ill., namely, in the report of my paper (page 1661), that portion beginning, "Paralysis of the eye muscles is found in the later stage of the disease," and ending, "The finding of marked eye changes adds to the gravity of the prognosis in pellagra and indicates, in a large percentage of cases, an early fatal termination." These conclusions were quoted as a matter of general interest, due credit being given Dr. Welton, from a paper by him which appears in the same issue of The Journal, page 1636. I very much regret we have been put in this false position.
