About seventy pages of this book contain a report of the commission, then reports by directors of stations occupying 120 pages, and nearly as many more pages are given to statistics. This is all in Spanish, but is preceded by a translation of the report of the commission. The commission which formerly had this problem in charge was dissolved on the removal from Porto Rico of Dr. B. K. Ashford and Dr. W. W. King of the United States Army and the Marine-Hospital Service. The commission which makes this report was appointed in June, 1906. It had at its disposal about one-half as much money as was needed, but it is to be congratulated on having accomplished so much with what it had.
