—Hugo Hassiepen, a "magnetic healer," charged with practicing medicine without a state license, is said to have pleaded guilty before Judge Scoville, January 3, and to have been fined $100.
—During December there were 2,704 deaths reported, equivalent to an annual death rate per 1,000 of 15.10. Chief among the death causes were: Pneumonia, 447; consumption, 278; heart diseases, 237; and violence (including suicide), 218.
