Scientific Items Obtainable from the Crematories.

ABSTRACT

—General acquiescence in the process of cremation seems to be steadily growing among the people, if we may judge from the establishment of crematories. Some time ago an announcement was made from the Le Moyne Crematory that it would for the future be reserved for the service of the county in which it is built. We learn from the Medical Record that one is in process of erection in New York, one in New Orleans, one has been talked of in Chicago, and the British Medical Journal informs us that in the city of Edinburgh one has just been opened, whilst one is already in operation at Woking, one of the general burying places of London.

We trust that some of our scientifically disposed menmay seize the opportunity thus afforded of so arranging the process of cremation that it may yield valuable facts to the science of medicine. The estimation
