Cranberry Circus! is dedicated to the caregiver, the "ringleader" in home health care. Belying its outward gaiety, the book begins with hard legal advice, then touches every practical base in complete how-to detail (medication charts, bathing, enemas). The author, a caregiver herself, emphasizes comfort and morale, suggesting simple events that a patient can look forward to and telling how to "make The Getting Well Room the most cheerful room in the house!" Visually and textually, the book is lively and humorous— "Real estate people say when evaluating property, it's location, location, location! When you're caring for the elderly and most people who are ill, it's Fluids, Fluids, Fluids!" (the fluid recommended? cranberry juice, of course).
