The text is a detailed review meant to present an approach to the patient who has suffered major trauma. The intended audience is the practicing surgeon, trainee, and medical student. The authors and contributors are a broad representation of health care professionals involved in the care of the patient with major trauma, including surgery, emergency medicine, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, anesthesiology, radiology, and ophthalmology.
