In Reply.  —Citing from the abstract of my article, Dr Sass asserts that I have ignored the existence of the 1931 German Reich Regulation Concerning New Therapy and Human Experimentation and the 1900 directive of the Prussian Minister of Religious, Educational and Medical Affairs and then goes on to cite extensively from the former. But abstracts are not articles; these were precisely the codes addressing research ethics that I cited in the article (page 1663) as the only exceptions to the rule.
