—Drs Marquis and Long1 seem to be at wit's end in trying to propose a solution to the child health care problem in the United States. They admit that their three proposed solutions are inadequate. There is a way to ensure adequate health care for children. It can be done without new commissions and bureaucracies, without new taxes, and in such a way that both Medicaid costs and employee health costs are cut. Make children eligible for Medicare. Many of them (the "disabled") already are. Medicare is not just a program for the elderly. It also covers the disabled and renal dialysis patients. Eligibility should be enlarged to include all children. If we can pay for the elderly, we should do no less for our children.
