ABSTRACT

In this book, Dr Lodewick has made a unique and important contribution to writing in the field of diabetes mellitus. He has done what all physicians who treat diabetic persons should do, and that is to provide detailed, precise, and comprehensive coverage of the information necessary for them to overcome their diabetic condition.

Dr Lodewick not only tells what to do but follows each section with a discussion of how well he has himself succeeded at taking his own advice. Dr Lodewick dares to share the emotional impact that the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus had on his life initially, and the effect that diabetes mellitus has had throughout his life. It is a warm, honest approach, which may help many persons to bring to the surface their own feelings and enable them to achieve an adequate acceptance of their condition in order to begin to cope with it.
