This first volume of collected topics in general thoracic surgery is reminiscent of the Clinics of North America series. The editors state a wish to bridge the gap between textbook and journal information on noncardiac thoracic surgery topics and have a way to update the information periodically. A board of editors from North America, Europe, and elsewhere was selected "to make certain that important advances can be drawn to the attention of thoracic surgeons around the world as quickly as possible."
