This multiauthored textbook of neuropathology is divided into 17 chapters. The first three cover the normal morphology and cellular pathology of neurons, astrocytes, ependyma, oligodendroglia, and microglia. All three chapters contain superb electron micrographs and excellent diagrams describing various cellular functions and myelination in the central nervous system. In addition, there are many examples of animal and experimental neuropathology in relation to human brain disease.
The rest of the chapters cover various topics in neuropathology—the meninges, hydrocephalus and edema, congenital malformations, perinatal pathology, inherited metabolic diseases, toxic metabolic disorders, central nervous system manifestations of systemic disease, demyelinating diseases, circulatory disorders, infections of the nervous system, degenerative diseases, Alzheimer's disease, and cerebrospinal trauma. All these chapters are well written and referenced. Illustrations of gross brain pathology, light microscopy, and ultrastructure are of the highest quality. There are excellent diagrams explaining the mechanisms of various nervous disorders in the central nervous system
