ABSTRACT

An entire edition of the British Medical Bulletin planned by a committee chaired by Sir Richard Doll is devoted to tobacco and health. Seventeen reviews deal trenchantly with the committee's target subjects, namely, effects of active and passive smoking, "strategy of the [tobacco] industry," and "methods available to health workers and to governments for controlling the epidemic."
