—In the February 12,1992, issue of JAMA, an article appeared entitled "Harassment Hinders Women's Care and Careers."1 The article addressed the issue of sexual harassment and its impact on professional women in the area of health and science research. Specific mention was made of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and the recent allegations of certain professional women that they have been subjected to sexual harassment.I write in response to your profile of the case of alleged sexual harassment and discrimination filed by Margaret Jensvoid, MD. Your article quotes at length Dr Jensvold's allegations that she was a victim of sexual harassment, which stymied her research efforts and led to her departure from NIMH.
