In Reply.  —On August 19, 1995, I was asked by a public relations firm to compose a letter to respond to the forthcoming publication of the article by Dr Psaty and colleagues.1 Having been greatly disturbed by the one-sided, sensational handling by the press of the oral report of these data in March 1995, I readily agreed to do so. As I explained to Dr Lurie when he called on September 11,1995,I did not ask who was sponsoring the letter and only later discovered that it was Bayer Corporation. I neither asked for nor received any compensation. I was assured that if there was a need for identification of corporate sponsorship, it would be included.I regret that the corporate sponsorship was not included but I stand by every word of my letter. My letter was not "misleading because it omitted pertinent information and other evidence calling the safety
