The first editor, F. C. Blodi, who was formerly the chairman and head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa, has taken the finest of German ophthalmic textbooks from over the years and has translated them into English editions. This monumental work was prepared simultaneously in both German and English editions. All of the surgical subspecialties in ophthalmology are detailed in cohesive style. The clarity of the illustrations and the details of the text are well integrated.
