ABSTRACT

Physician's Recognition Award  An important event in continuing medical education (CME) in 1983 was the publication and distribution of the new information booklet for the American Medical Association Physician's Recognition Award (PRA). This new edition presents an innovative rearrangement of the material by dividing it into two parts. The first part contains information for physicians who wish to complete the PRA application. The second part contains information for organizations and institutions providing CME programs. This division expedites the use of the information booklet for the physician user or a program provider that is seeking information about the policies and procedures associated with the award. Most of the material was completely rewritten to bring it up to date and to provide clarification.A valuable addition to the booklet is the inclusion of an abridged section of Report A of the Council on Medical Education, which was adopted by the AMA House
