ABSTRACT

This two-volume set is the fourth edition of the classic radiology text originally written by Edeiken and Hodes in 1967. Two new authors who are highly recognized in the field have joined Edeiken. The massive text has been revised considerably since the last edition, which was first published in 1981. The increase in size reflects the ever-expanding field of skeletal radiology, which now includes new methods such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), as well as a greater understanding of pathophysiology and treatment of skeletal disorders.

The organizational structure of the book remains primarily a pathophysiological division of topics. Bone and cartilage physiology is briefly described in the first chapter. The second and third chapters are a synopsis of roentgen appearances of bone responses and alterations.
