This new work enters the vast arena of surgical atlases. It includes operations from the broad specialty areas of general surgery, pediatric surgery, vascular surgery, and head and neck surgery.
Portions have been prepared by both the author and other specialty faculty at his medical school, although the book is not divided accordingly. Perhaps it was intentional that there is also no indication as to which author prepared which section.
The operations included are explained in an easily understood way that is unusual in most other American surgical atlases. The diagrams, which are outstanding for their clarity, emphasize major anatomic areas rather than busy little details. The paper is unusually sturdy and of a sort that does not glare. The legends are fully descriptive.
