"The intent of this textbook is to provide a comprehensive review of vascular surgery together with the related medical and basic science disciplines": the aim of the authors, as presented in the preface to the first edition, has been admirably preserved through three subsequent revisions. The fourth edition successfully continues the original format, that is, a multiauthored text accompanying a postgraduate course to prepare candidates for an examination in vascular surgery, with review questions after each chapter.
I used this textbook to study for the first vascular examination in 1983. When it was time to review for recertification last year, the fourth edition came in handy. Of course, one has to deal with the vagaries of the examiners. Who knew that orthopedic trauma and thoracic outlet syndrome would figure so prominently in their minds? But all the information was in the book.
Several features make this text valuable. Dr Moore
