Parikh's Text Book of Medical Jurisprudence and Toxicology, is primarily intended for use by Indian practitioners of law and medicine. The book is a potpourri of many fields, some covered in depth and some superficially. The book is divided into three parts (medical jurisprudence, toxicology, and appendix) and nine sections.
The five sections (680 pages) of part 1 deal with the entire field of forensic pathology, including forensic immunohematology, examination of hair, and clinical forensic medicine (impotence, sterility, virginity, pregnancy, sexual offenses, etc). Also included in part 1, section 5, are such topics as forensic psychiatry, law in relation to the physician, forensic science laboratories and crime detection, the Indian penal code, criminal procedure code, and the Indian Evidence Act.
