Knee injuries in the adolescent are encountered more often in this decade because more adolescents are involved in various athletic activities. Also injuries are now recognized and diagnosed more often because of the effort and clinical research carried out by many orthopedic surgeons interested in athletic injuries.

First, the ligamentous injuries are discussed; then classification, diagnosis, and treatment—conservative and surgical— are outlined. Second, meniscal lesions are outlined, including their types; diagnosis, the use of arthroscopy, and treatment are discussed. The third chapter covers the epiphysial plate injuries, and the fourth covers osteochondral fractures. In the remaining four chapters, the author discusses osteochondritis dissecans, subluxation of the patella, and chondromalacia of the patella.
