A Review of Biostatistics: A Program of Self-instruction

ABSTRACT

Programmed instruction is not for everyone, but for those who like this method of learning and who wish a quick and rather simple introduction to biostatistics, this small book is ideal. It is published in a ring binder and can be laid flat, turned back on itself, or slipped into a pocket. As is customary with programmed instructions, the text and interspersed questions occupy the left half of the page, and the answers appear opposite on the right half. The student keeps the answers covered and endeavors to respond to the questions correctly.

The author recommends that this book be studied in a series of 20- to 30-minute sessions, which I found to be about right. One can cover a substantial part of each chapter in that time without becoming bored with this method of learning. One could finish the book in about nine sessions and thereby have a nodding
