ABSTRACT

In a brief well-organized fashion, the author once again lists the anorectal entities presented to the physician or surgeon. He quickly develops the anatomy of the area, moving then to symptoms and methods of examination. Almost one third of the book is devoted to hemorrhoids and their treatment. Certain diseases of the colon that sometimes involve the rectum are discussed. The last portion of the book briefly discusses a group of somewhat less common anorectal conditions. The author takes pain to emphasize that a clear and frank explanation of the problem may make a crucial difference regarding the patient's tolerance of his condition and treatment.
