This is a textbook for a formal introductory course on biostatistics. It is obviously intended for instruction of medical students, physicians, and others in the health field, for the illustrative examples are taken from the field of medicine. Each chapter is followed by carefully chosen questions which, if worked by the student, ensure a high degree of comprehension of the material in the chapter.
The concepts are carefully developed and made clear, even for readers with a limited background in mathematics. Among the subjects covered are data distributions, probability, inference, hypothesis testing, χ2, analysis of variance, correlation and regression, covariance, and nonparametric tests.
This could be used either as a text or as a reference source for physicians who wish to understand biostatistics without in-depth knowledge or great practical expertise.
