It is certainly remarkable to make a diagnosis after 3,500 years, but 2,500 would probably be just as good. On the cover of the July 14, 1978, issue of The Journal, the age of 3,500 years was ascribed to the mummy of Harwa, the storekeeper in the Temple of Amun, and the same statement can be found in the BRIEF REPORT of Lee and Stenn (240:136, 1978), who established the diagnosis of ochronosis in the mummy. But according to the comment by Thomas J. Handrigan (240:86, 1978), Harwa lived in the 25th and 26th dynasties, c 650 BC. This would give the mummy about 1,000 years less than is indicated on the cover and in the article. Misprint or miscalculation?
