To the Editor.—  In view of the current public and legislative attitude toward physicians, I felt obliged to comment in the form of a few "updated Hippocratic amendments."

  1. Be as moderate in thy fees as the lawyer. Charge not over one third to one half of a patient's entire worth in the case that thee gamble to effect a cure nor any fee at all in the contingency that thee kill or lose the patient.

  2. Be as conscienceful as the politician. Make no decision hastily but consult with thy colleagues even as the Presidents do in cabinet and the congrefsmen among each the other before prescribing war in which many lives will be terminated abruptly, in order that the deaths of people should not rest on one head alone but many can order mayhem and thus sleep free of stain of guilt in the night.
