In this seventh edition of Anderson's Pathology, which updates the previous edition published in 1971, John M. Kissane joins W. A. D. Anderson as coauthor. The text contains approximately 300 more pages than the previous one. Of the 55 contributors, 22 are new to this edition, while the general format remains similar. The first 18 chapters (736 pages) concern general pathology; the remainder follow the organ system format. Several new chapters, including one on geographic pathology have been added.
The individual chapters are generally of high quality, though somewhat uneven. Most authors whose chapters appeared in previous editions have extensively revised their text and added new illustrations; however, a few chapters show little change. Overall, illustrations remain of high quality. A bibliography appended to each chapter serves as a useful guide to pertinent current literature.
