To the Editor.—
Since publication of my EDITORIAL, "Reflections on New Treatments for Burns—Caveat Legor" (225:294,1973), I have received many letters—some humorous, others ill-tempered—calling attention to my error in using the word "legor." By way of apology, I offer the following:"Legor" (passive verb), `tis said, Meant, to Romans, "I am read." While in the eyes of a perfector The word for "reader," folks, is "lector." Now, who would make this stupid goof That floods the mails and raised the roof?Just a "scriptor" on The Burn Who has, as "auctor," much to learn. And yet, the weight of mail received Makes "legor" almost right, indeed!
