To the Editor:—  Primary chondrosarcoma of the larynx and lower respiratory tract is rare. Daniels et al1 found 15 cases of chondrosarcoma of the tracheobronchial tree and lungs and added a case of his own. Brandenburg et al2 found 150 cases of cartilaginous tumors of the larynx reported until January 1967, only 26 of which were chondrosarcoma. Putney et al3 and Goethals et al4 found the cricoid to be the most frequent site of origin of the cartilaginous tumors of the larynx.It is the purpose of this paper to report a fatal primary chondrosarcoma of the laryngeal cartilages in a 74-year-old woman, many years after neck irradiation.
