1968 Medical Disciplinary Report

The Judicial Council of the American Medical Association presents herewith its annual report of medical disciplinary actions for the year 1968.

Table 1 shows the disciplinary actions in 1968 by the state boards of medical examiners, and Table 2 sets forth a five-year comparison of disciplinary actions by the state boards of medical examiners. It should be noted that the state boards of medical examiners are an administrative branch of the state government. They are charged with the obligation of administering the state's Medical Practice Act. All physicians who are licensed and practicing in the state are subject to the orders of this board. Under the statute, the boards are authorized to institute complaints and conduct proceedings to determine if a violation of the state's Medical Practice Act has occurred.
