Written by experts in many different branches of science, the book is divided into seven parts: a general section, a section on the cellular aspects of pathogenesis, a section on immunological aspects, a section on electron microscopy, a section on the histochemistry and chemical composition of amyloid, a section on experimental amyloidosis, and finally a section on clinical studies.
The book not only reviews but critically discusses previously held notions and concepts. It brings to light innumerable problems that still exist in the understanding of the basic nature and genesis of amyloid, suggests possible answers, and at the same time presents many new ideas particularly for experimental approaches to the solutions of some of these
