The References and Reviews section is presented with a decreased number of pages although its content has increased in size and value with a new format. The number of abstracts has been increased by 10%, made possible by smaller but clearly legible type and strict editing of the abstract copy. An abstract will never replace an original communication; however, it is possible to present new data, methods used, results obtained, or conclusions drawn. The original source is given, as well as the address from which a reprint may be obtained.
This section is the most current collection of medical abstracts in the Western World. At least 150 abstracts are published each week. The selection of material is based on timeliness, importance, and excellence of original presentation. Emphasis is on clinical and practice-related subjects.
