The first volume is organized into 14 sections, each varying from three to ten chapters in length. The first volume is unique in that it is neither a textbook for the student nor merely a compendium of pathology; rather, neuropathology is presented as an aspect of neurobiological science. A considerable portion of the volume is devoted to related topics in anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry and to special techniques.
