Efforts to eradicate measles in the United States by 1970 appear to be at an impasse.Next year has been the target referred to by Public Health Service officials in the past (JAMAMedical News203:21 [Jan 29] and 206: 491 [Oct 14] 1968).Now, the National Communicable Disease Center (NCDC), Atlanta, reports that as of late June rubeola cases were a few hundred ahead of last year.The NCDC prediction for 1968-1969 is for a cessation of the downward trend since rubeola vaccine became available for general use in March 1963."If the present trends continue, we should expect between 20,000 and 25,000 reported cases of rubeola this year," J.
