This is a review of many aspects of lung cancer in which the authors have attempted to summarize the present state of knowledge on the subject. As in any book prepared with this general purpose, some of the chapters are more comprehensive than others.
A succinct discussion of the historical events, incidence, and etiology of lung cancer is presented, without a great deal of depth or detail. The chapter on pathology is one of the best, including some rare tumors such as mixed and mesenchymal tumors.
The chapters on natural history and lymphatic spread of cancer of the lung are particularly illustrative and contain a great deal of information that should be helpful in attempting to develop therapeutic strategies to manage these patients. The diagnostic radiology aspects of bronchogenic carcinoma are dealt with in extreme detail, although, unfortunately, because of the nature of the tumor, the definition of these characteristics
