ABSTRACT

To the Editor.—  Basically I tend to agree with Ellerbroek (222:364, 1972) that "professionals in the field should maintain a high index of suspicion as to the validity of psychiatric teachings until we have the lowest suicide rate of any professional group, not the highest."I would like to add that medical students should be made aware of "possible basic conceptual errors in psychiatric knowledge," because quite a few young physicians choose psychiatry as their specialty due to their unconscious needs and conflicts, seeking solutions to their own unconscious problems.
