Pseudotumor Cerebri Associated With Corticosteroid Therapy in an Adult

A 20-year-old woman had pseudotumor cerebri attributable to corticosteroid therapy. To our knowledge, this is the second case reported in an adult. The patient had severe ulcerative colitis, and headache, blurring of vision, and papilledema occurred with reduction of corticosteroid dosage. Symptoms disappeared with further gradual withdrawal of the drug over the next five weeks. All patients taking corticosteroids who complain of headache or blurring of vision should be examined for pseudotumor cerebri.
