ABSTRACT

The sixth edition of Gaddum's Pharmacology serves as an excellent introductory text for students interested in the basic concepts of drug action. In each chapter the most representative drugs are discussed according to their physiological classification. No attempt is made to provide comprehensive coverage of the therapeutic applications of various drugs.

The style is concise and easily read. Figures and tables are lucid and complementary. Throughout the book an emphasis is placed on chemical structure. References at the end of each chapter highlight the subjects presented in the text. Notable additions at the end of the book include a list of general reading in pharmacology, a table of physiological salt solutions, and an index of chemical rings. This book provides an effective introduction to the science of pharmacology.
