Pathophysiology of Gestation is a sequel to the two-volume work, Biology of Gestation. Assali has once again assembled a team of experts to contribute the seven chapters making up the first volume of this new series. These chapters cover disorders of ovulation, gamete transport, uterine function, maternal circulatory and respiratory adjustments, kidney function, the liver, and the mammary gland.
The book is of convenient size, printed on high-quality paper, and the illustrations are clearly reproduced. The format of each chapter is uniform, with a brief index, concise introductory statement, and a detailed discussion of the subject; yet, even with adherence to a particular format, the individuality of each author is preserved.
