ABSTRACT

Rh Immunoglobulin Dose Cut By 80%  An Rh immunoglobulin dose only one-fifth that currently in use appears to be effective in preventing maternal Rh sensitization.Efficacy of single 1 cc injections of the γ-globulin provides at least a partial answer to the major barrier against wider use of this prophylaxis against hemolytic disease— supply.Antibodies have not been detected in any of 57 women who received the small dose of the hightiter globulin more than four months ago, according to Leon N. Sussman, MD.By contrast, 8 of 50 untreated controls (16%) have developed antibody.All the women in the study at New York's Beth Israel Medical Center have Rh-negative blood types.
