Dr. Herman C. Lichstein, professor of microbiology at the University of Cincinnati graduate school, has been named director of the new program of graduate studies in microbiology.
Lichstein's appointment marks the first formal integration of the Colleges of Medicine and Arts and Sciences on the graduate level, according to Dr. Campbell Crockett, dean of the graduate school.
Dr. Albert Dorfman, professor of pediatrics at the University of Chicago and director of La Rabida, the University of Chicago Institute, has been appointed chairman of the department of pediatrics at the University. He will continue as director of La Rabida, heading the institute's scientific program. Dr. Burton Grossman, associate professor of pediatrics at the university and associate director of La Rabida, has been appointed medical director of the institute.
