General Niess Honored.—
The Air Force Association's coveted 1961 Citation of Honor Award was given to Major Gen. Oliver K. Niess, Air Force Surgeon General, for his contributions to the national aerospace and clinical research medical programs. The award was presented to General Niess by Air Force Association President, Thomas F. Stack, at the 15th anniversary luncheon held in Philadelphia in September.
Colonel Larry Smith Promoted.—
Col. Larry A. Smith was promoted to the rank of brigadier general. He has been director of medical staffing and education in the Office of the Surgeon General since June, 1959.
