ABSTRACT

This report is aimed at bringing the clinician abreast of developments in the basic sciences dealing with cell growth and neoplasia, specifically related to the leukemias. The topics range from the morphology, biochemistry, and pathophysiology of the leukemic cell to various modes of leukemogenesis, genetics, environmental factors, and childhood leukemia. The reader may find many points of information concerning cell growth and neoplasia, but rather than carrying each of these ideas through in depth, the booklet presents the interplay of thoughts of many investigators, not necessarily in agreement, concerning their researches.

This pamphlet is therefore not a thorough reference source for the future, but rather indicates the current direction of research in this field. Fortunately, there is a bibliography with each section. This book should interest the investigator in the leukemias.
