In this book the sections on anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology cover those topics which are essential to diagnostic and surgical techniques used in gynecological urology. A large section is devoted to genitourinary fistulas. Other sections deal with sphincter incontinence of urine, urological diseases of peculiar gynecological significance, and the effect of gynecological conditions on the urinary system. Three chapters are concerned with the prevention and treatment of urologic complications in women.
Controversial issues are generally excluded. With the exception of an informative section on urethritis and cystitis, the subject of infection of the urinary system is largely ignored. Chapters concerned with the sterile technique of instrumental examination of the urinary system, the care of indwelling catheters, and the prevention of iatrogenic or nosocomial urinary infections would add much to the practical applications of the subject.
