This book is an excellent outline not only for surgical residents but also for anyone interested in this field. It deals with all phases of the surgery of cardiovascular lesions, except cardiac operations, and presents, briefly and clearly, the objectives, indications, contraindications, and preoperative preparations for each procedure. The diagrammatic sketches which depict positioning of the patient, placement of incisions, pathologic changes, and the technique of appropriate procedures are outstanding. Alternative techniques are described in the management of segmental arterial occlusion. Postoperative suggestions, accompanying each procedure, are complete and helpful.
