ABSTRACT

To the Editor:—  Once more I take it upon myself as a representative of the literary world to comment upon your journal. It seems that you are really intent on making progress. And you are to be complimented. Volume 175, No. 1, has just arrived and it was with eager anticipation that I opened the nowbrilliant covers. And what wonders therein. To those not "formatly-oriented," perhaps nothing was striking. But to those who look as well as read, the changes were pleasing and well done.The new headings for Letters and References & Reviews are tasteful and provide a change from the former drab, grey neutralness of the JAMA. The effect of subheads in Questions and Answers, a small thing, but also well executed, is fluid, soft and pleasing to the eye. I approve of your innovation of putting Abstracts on "single" pages, but feel a bit dejected that you
